Now known as Ashfar's Shawarma and Grill, this is very much a hole in the wall along King Street. Situated opposite to the Vida La Pita, the two places appear to be complete opposites. Whereas Vida La Pita nearly takes up the entire block, is visible from quite a distance and generates quite the ruckus at times, Ashfar's is family-owned and run and quiet, with not more than 1-2 people behind the counter, only 2 spits and a rather crowded sitting area. In its humility, however, the place also offers the opportunity for a meal that is fresh, made from heart and served with good proportion.
I had the chance to visit the place with a group of friends who frequented the place, after we had completed an important exam.
My good buddy was so looking forward to celebrating that he got himself a platter with rice, despite being on a fairly strict keto diet.
The chicken shawarma platter comes with chicken, warmed up on the grill, and served over rice and topped with a garlic sauce and hot sauce and served alongside salad and hummus.
My best parts of the platter are the chicken and rice. They are both very flavorful, the chicken is warmed to be crisp on outside without becoming chewy. The rice is perfectly cooked.
The only reason that I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the sauces and the hummus are all very sweet, which interferes with the flavor of the chicken and rice. -

It's a hole in the wall but the chicken shawarma is awesome!! Bring cash though, they only take cash and debit. I tried to use my US debit card and it wouldn't work so just be prepared. If ever back in the area, I would definitely eat here again!

Doesnt work for me. Shwarma was greasy, sweat, and not satisfying. Good crust on the chicken at least. Salad side was also very poor, and wet.

**A MUST TRY RESTAURANT**
I stopped in here after a night out on the town. The food is prepared as authentic as it gets. It is true to taste and is amazing. All the flavors just mixed together to create the perfect shawarma. They have combo meals and daily specials as well, but I was after the pita sandwich this time.
I would go here for lunch and late night meals as it is cheap (in price) and high on quality.
They do have a dining room in the back where you can sit down and enjoy your meal in house.
